Growing Your Government Business

Why Certifications Alone Won't Win You Government Contracts

Connect accurate eligibility with buyer demand, capability evidence, sustainable pricing, and reliable performance.

Eligibility is one part of competition

A certification can support access to specified procurement categories. It does not establish technical capability, create a requirement, or guarantee award.

Build the missing pieces

  1. 01Identify agencies or primes buying your offering.
  2. 02Understand the actual procurement route and scope.
  3. 03Develop authorized experience and performance evidence.
  4. 04Prepare a credible delivery and staffing approach.
  5. 05Price sustainably and respond accurately to instructions.

Use status in context

Describe current granted certifications and their relevance to the particular opportunity. Do not claim that an owner identity, pending application, or state credential automatically grants federal eligibility.

Develop relationships responsibly

Participation in public market research, supplier processes, and industry communities can improve understanding. It must not imply purchased access or influence.

Certification is useful when aligned with real capability and demand. Keep maintenance obligations current while building a business that can perform beyond a status label.

Official sources

Check current instructions and requirements directly with the relevant agency.
